Ginny Paleg, DScPT:

Hypotonia
Much has been learned about hypertonia and dyskinesia, but many clinicians are missing crucial information about the significance of hypotonia in infants and young children.

This course will begin with a systematic review of the literature and potential developmental outcomes associated with hypotonia. A new tool to identify infants and children with clinically-significant hypotonia will be presented and discussed. Evidence-based interventions for hypotonia will be reviewed.

Learning Objective 1: Participants will recognize objective signs of hypotonia in infants and young children

Learning Objective 2: Participants will understand the spectrum of abnormal developmental outcomes associated with hypotonia

Learning Objective 3: Participants will learn to use the Morgan Paleg Hypotonia Scale to help identify which children with hypotonia are in need of additional evaluation and therapeutic intervention

Learning Objective 4: Participants will identify evidence-based interventions that may be helpful in treating infants and children with hypotonia
