Pre-symposium Presenters - Jean L. Minkel

Jean L. Minkel, PT, ATP:

Ms. Minkel is a physical therapist and master clinician well recognized for her work in Assistive Technology. She currently directs a consulting firm, which provides educational and consulting service to all members of the A.T. team – consumers, therapists, suppliers, manufacturers and payers. Her consulting activities currently include community based seating and mobility services for adults with physical disabilities living in their own homes in New York City.

Prior to entering the private section, Jean was the director of the Seating and Mobility Program at the Center for Rehabilitation Technology at Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstaw, NY. She produced the videotape series, “Spending or Investing – Funding Assistive Technology". She is co-author of the Wheelchair Selection Guide: How to use the ANSI – RESNA Standards Manual Mobility Training Guide and the Power Mobility Training Guide.

The A.T. community has recognized Jean for her contributions by awarding to her, the RESNA Fellow award.

In addition to be actively involved in RESNA’s Standards committee, Ms Minkel has been a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Professional Standards Board, the committee responsible for the AT credentialing program. Currently, Jean is a member of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) Program Advisory and Oversight Committee for Competitive Acquisition of Certain Durable Medical Equipment and Prosthetic and Orthotic Supplies (PAOC).
